Matrixing vs. White Noise

If Matrixing is the human mind's natural tendency to find familiar shapes in complex shapes or colors (finding a face in the shapes and shadows of a collection of objects). Then why can’t listening to white noise be something similar? If you think about it, you can stare at most pictures and if you look long enough your mind will start to point out faces, bodies, things that are familiar to you. So when listening to a white noise machine, or listening to running water, why can’t the same thing be true? I have noticed in my own experiences that if I sit and listen to running water, or static on a radio station, I too will start to hear things that are familiar. Sometimes it may be a voice, sometimes it may be something different. What if all I am experiencing is Matrixing? What if it is just my minds way of filtering out garbage?

If the above is true, then how is it, that when you are conducting an investigation and you are using “white noise” you seem to get more paranormal phenomena? Most research that I have seen consists of audio recordings and/or personal experiences. What if the personal experiences are psychologically related as a direct result of investigating with white noise? It’s human nature to put 2 and 2 together to get 4. So if one is taught that when you use white noise during an investigation you get more Electronic Voice Phenomena, then wouldn’t it explain the psychological effects that it could also have? Not to mention that psychological effects often result in physical effects as well. In the next paragraph I will give a scenario then explain it.

Scenario:
You have been called to a specific location to investigate a haunting. You are told that voices are often heard, and objects move around. On occasion an evil presence can be felt as well as seen. The children are afraid to go to sleep and the wife has been attacked several times while alone in the bedroom. You and your partner decide to do some EVP work in the bedroom and you opt to use a white noise machine based on the thought that they seem to help spirits or ghosts manifest themselves. After about 15 minuets you start to think you hear voices, and you start to feel overwhelmed with fear; your chest starts to hurt, you become short of breath and nauseous and light headed. You and your partner calmly leave the area and you suddenly start to feel better. Upon reviewing your evidence, you find nothing. Why?

Possible explanation:
First off you are going to a place where reportedly people are being attacked, you are also aware that people are hearing and seeing things. You already know that the kids are scared more than normal.
Therefore you unconsciously prepare yourself. Before you even arrive at the house, you are prepared for the worst. So here you are, going into an investigation already poised for what could happen. Next you are told that an evil presence has been felt. So you prepare for that too. These thoughts are all in the back of your mind, weather or not you are consciously aware of it. So next off you go into the bedroom where someone was supposedly attacked and you decide to use the white noise machine. After about 10 minuets you start to hear things, then you become scared and fearful (psychological effects) then your chest starts to hurt, you become short of breath and so on (physical effects). The later can be described as your Fight or Flight Mechanism. In other words your body is preparing for the worst. For example, you’re in the woods and you see a bear, your adrenaline starts pumping throughout your system preparing you to either fight the bear, or run away. What you do next is up to you. In our scenario, the only bear you can fight is your mind, but your not aware of that, so the heart is pounding increasing circulation, the adrenaline is going making you excited and wanting to get out, fight, or run. Your mind at the same time is trying to figure out what to do next, so you begin to feel tightness in your chest, you become short of breath then you start to think you are going crazy or maybe even die so here comes the hyperventilation, your body is taking in more oxygen than it can use, you feel faint, your fingertips tingle. And without proper training, the bear will win the battle because you opted to leave the area rather than fight it. This is normal behavior. But because you know the history of things that have taken place there, and because you have been taught that white noise helps spirits, paranormal entities manifest, your brain says “wow, there is something wrong here, it must be a ghost”. Instead of sitting there taking a few deep breaths or getting up and walking around for a moment, to burn of the excess adrenaline in your system, you leave the area convinced that some sort of presence was messing with you.

Now I don’t want to give the impression that you should always stay and not rely on your personal feelings, but what if the “voice” you heard was just your minds way of finding a familiar sound in a complex situation (Matrixing)? What if the feelings that you were experiencing were just all manifested from your psyche? What if those feelings resulted from the fact that you were already mentally prepared for what could happen giving the history provided prior to the investigation?
Now another question is; why is it when I use a white noise machine, can I ask questions, make statements and get a response on a voice recorder when I never heard it audibly while I was there?

These are the types of things to look for; these would be better used as evidence. Since you have used the white noise machine, and you have asked questions, made comments and have had responses to either one or both, then it becomes more viable and harder to deny.
Now let’s say for instance you ask questions, or make comments and you are able to record voices, and/or sounds on your voice recorder but along with this you have also heard these things audibly without the use of the recorders playback, and you have experienced psychological effects and/or physical symptoms as well. Having evidence to back up your feelings will help to enforce your experience.
On another note, studies have shown that using white noise at a level barley audible to the human ear can still produce results, however when turned up loud enough to be more noticeable studies have also shown that the results are more intense resulting in people wishing to leave the area, having feelings of discomfort or feeling surrounded. Could this be the result of Matrixing? Or, does it mean that with more background noise (white noise) paranormal entities are more able to manifest? And if the later is the case, then the question is why? Does it have something to do with frequency? Or is it just psychological?
