Many websites are offering courses to become a "certified ghost hunter". So what does it mean to be a certified ghost hunter?

Anyone with a basic understanding of the paranormal can be a paranormal investigator. There are many organizations out there trying to charge its members for such certifications. In fact, a certification in ghost hunting is actually non-existent as there are no true experts in the field of paranormal research. While some researchers are more experienced than others, continuing education in this “field of research” is very important for all researchers and investigators. Paranormal researchers should from time to time test their own knowledge, and exams are an acceptable means of doing so. Beware of organizations that offer any type of Certification especially “for a fee” as those types are usually only out to make a few bucks. Any organization that says it is dedicated to Paranormal Research and Investigation and charges its members for false certifications or charges its clients a fee for conducting research is probably not a legitimate group.

This exam is simply an online test to the skills and knowledge of the participant.
Upon completion of this test the individual taking it will receive a Certified Ghost Hunter Certificate from WVGhosts.com. We allow our members to take this exam to test their own knowledge.

This exam is by no means an actual certification of any kind, it only states that the individual who participated made a passing score based on WVGhosts.com standards. This exam tests the knowledge and understanding the individual has on investigations and the paranormal. This exam was taken by HPIR members merely for entertainment purposes, and does not reflect that we are “certified” by any institution to hunt ghosts. We are however, knowledgeable and educated in this field, and conduct our investigations in a professional manner. HPIR has set high standards for our members, we look for quality investigators and we strive to educate each member thoroughly.
