Investigation
Location:
Private Home
Boyd County, Kentucky
April 2007
Investigation Overview:
Home owners report objects moving
on their own and falling off shelves, a closet door opening on it's own, drawers
being found open when they return home from being away, a blanket being in front of the door when they came home
that had been on a nearby chair when they left, and a photo of the owners
deceased grandmother being moved. These occurrences had seemed to just start
only weeks before we investigated.
Results:
We attempted to logically explain these occurrences and for the
most part we we did. The door made a rattling sound at one point and we
suspected that it was due to the wind outside, if the door had not been closed
properly it seems it could have easily been opened. The objects that were
falling off of a shelf were several small toy trucks, which when the shelf was
gently touched the fire trucks would move, a day's worth of vibrations from
walking could easily cause them to fall. We noticed that the homeowners seemed
to have a habit of leaving drawers open as they were left open when we entered
the home for the investigation.
The blanket in the floor also seemed to have a
simple answer, the home owners have a small dog and we feel that the dog may
have pulled the blanket from the chair in front of the door while the owners
were gone. The only thing we could not explain was the movement of the photo of
the deceased grandmother, we stuck a piece of tape down to note any movement of
the photo but during our time in the home there was no movement of this photo. We did find one interesting thing and that was an obituary for the female
owner's grandfather who had just passed away the previous month. We asked if this
was the grandfather who was married to the grandmother in the photo and she said it was not.
Investigation Results:
We concluded that most
of what was happening was pretty simply explained.
