Websites about the Latin Quarter and the Primrose...which was what it was called right before it was known as the Latin Quarter...plus info on some mob activity in the area.

Apparently nearby Newport was known as "Little Mexico" and was known for casinos, brothels, and bars...

http://www.nkyviews.com/campbell/newport_clubs.htm

This link has a picture of the Primrose...you can tell its the same building, but its easy different.

(Oh, and from one article, this place was actually built in the 1850's and operated as a slaughterhouse until the early 1890s.

I found nothing to support it was a bowling alley. Apparently, the only part of the original slaughterhouse that was still standing was the well area.

Other bits of info....the Hard Rock Cafe that it once was is in no relation to the modern chain of restaurants known as the Hard Rock Cafe...it was completely separate

. Also, the site of Pearl's murder is now the site of Carmel Manor Nursing Home...which also claims to be haunted by her.

Flatwoods Fire Station

Here's the webpage for the fire station we investigated, although if you look under the retired members and history section, there's no mention of "George." Anyone know if he went by a different name?

Southeastern KY Baptist Hospital

This old hospital, located in Corbin, KY and commonly referred to as the Old Corbin Hospital, has been unoccupied since the late 1980s.

t was replaced in 1986 by the newer Baptist Regional Medical Center.

The building has no electricity, but supposedly is known to have lights come on by themselves, and elevator doors come open.

These two sites share the experiences of "ghost hunters" exploring the property:

Sue Bennett College - London KY

Isabel (Belle) Harris Bennett (b.1852) founded the college in 1897 and named it the Sue Bennett Memorial School (later Sue Bennett College) in honor of her deceased older sister, Sue Bennett.

Belle was big in the woman's suffrage movement, and also in Methodist education.

She also helped found the Scarritt Bible and Training School in Missouri, which later relocated to Tennessee

. She also helped found a few more schools, and even had one in Rio de Jinero named after her. She died in 1922 in Richmond, KY.

The school closed in 1997 after it lost accreditation and funding due to financial and administrative problems

. Part of it is now the Bennett Center, which houses a branch of the local YMCA among other things. Its also been added to the National Register of Historical Places.

Shadowlands Description of Hauntings:
London - Sue Bennett College - they say the dorms and the theater are haunted and that Bell Bennett roams the halls all night playing the piano’s turning off and on lights and watching people sleep that still stay there if you go in your sure to find something.

TB Hospital in Ashland

The TB hospital in Ashland, KY was built in 1948 and officially opened in 1950. It featured 100 beds and served 18 Kentucky counties before closing in the mid 70s.

In the 1980's, most of the building was still abandoned, yet the state police had a crime lab facility on the 4th floor. In 2005, they had outgrown the space, and left the building nearly completely abandoned.

Apparently there is talk into converting the structure into an apartment complex.

If anyone has any additional information about this building, please let me know.

The Sexton's House

Located in Russellville, KY.

In Kentucky, a sexton is the caretaker of a cemetery. This particular home, located at the edge of Maple Grove Cemetery, was built in 1870.

Around the turn of the century, the caretaker's daughter was preparing to go to a dance.

While she was in the tub, she was struck by lightning, which in turn, etched her portrait into the glass of a second story window.

There is speculation about those exact events...some believe that the girl was forbidden to go to the dance because of the storm, or that her date was late or stood her up...all resulting in her cursing God, and thus being struck down.

In any event, by the 1920s, the window was drawing in so many visitors, that the owners decided to paint over the window...and then to board it up.

Years later, caretaker Kelly Williams decided to remove the paint and see for himself. He never finished because it was such an undertaking. However, he apparently died mysteriously of a heart attack in the kitchen not long after.
