Since I take this stuff pretty seriously, I have to remain open minded yet skeptical. I have heard a lot of EVP's from the ones which are nothing but people making something out of noise to very hard to dismiss sounds and voices that people get. My stance bothers me though as I ride the fence, not really wanting to commit since we really have no hard evidence of what EVP is. Some may say it's actual voices from those who have moved one, others say aliens. What is real and what is not?
What made me conflicted about this is the following EVP:

I expect everyone to listen to this questioning everything about it. I've done it myself and I cannot dismiss it. It's nothing amazing. It's a simple response that I know was not spoken by me or the person with me.
Part of me wants to believe that this was some disincarnate spirit talking to us. Yet, the voice sounds like the guy that was with me, so therein lies some questions.
Did this person speak while we were recording? No. Yet, you have to take my word for it. Am I trying to fool you? Maybe I forgot that the other person with me said something. It's possible, right? And what if I say that, I am for certain that the other person with me remained quiet and did not say anything. Again you take me on my word. And why should you believe me. I have no credibility with any of you. I am just some person posting on a message board.
In a way, we all offer subjective evidence when we post no matter how objectively we received what we received. It is subjective because I know what happened. I experienced it, I felt it, I processed the data through my senses. You on the other hand get it second-handedly. It is just a sound file, easily manipulated and faked by hundreds of software programs many being free.
There is no way I can expect for you to believe that the above is real. This is what drives me crazy. There seems to be no way to offer objective proof. Proof that will make someone in the scientific community take note and want to delve deeper. Many would say who cares about that. I do. I figure I have to if I am taking this seriously because SOMETHING is happening. Whether it be voices from the dead or residual sounds recorded on the environments or demons trying to trick us for whatever purpose something allows this to happen.
Many can quickly dismiss it as some extraneous signal picked up or the person just hearing what they want to hear. I can say that there are many EVP's that people post that are that, yet there are the ones that leave you excited and full of the wonder of what it could mean.
So, that EVP you have listened to, I recorded it in an attic of a friend's grandmother's house. He was with me the whole time, but as we were leaving he said nothing, yet there it is a sing-song kind of response, very clear and unmistakable of what is being said. But I have to remain on my fence. Is it some extraneous sound? Is it a real human spirit? Is a devious demon? Is it the subconscious of my friend? No one can definitively say, but there it is with no explanation of why it is there.
